- Story
- "I was separated from my entire family. I saw a friend of my brother's, clung to him and we went together to Treblinka. There were small cattle cars, there were about 200 people in the carriage. My friend had wire cutting tools in his pocket. We talked about jumping off the train. It was very cold. 10 people decided to jump. I was the seventh. When the people in front of me jumped, we heard machine gun fire. I was lucky that I jumped on a curve, into a snowdrift. I was covered in snow and no one saw me. When I recovered, I walked on the tracks. After about an hour I noticed the Treblinka sign. I turned around and walked in a different direction. I didn't know the other people who jumped, but none survived. Some had been shot. I saw several bodies. I was the only one left." Abraham returned to Radom. He survived Auschwitz and the death march to Dachau. After the war, he emigrated to the US.
