- Story
- Josek Rozenberg's account: "Nobody told us where we were going. The station was full of Germans. [...] I, along with another friend, Menachem Topioł from the police, stood in front of the wire-covered window and looked out. [...] We decided to tear off the wires in the windows. None of the people in the wagon noticed this. They were all lying on the floors. Only me and Topioł... And I was the first to get out of the wagon. The window was high and Topioł took me on his shoulders. And I got out. I jumped. The train was moving normally. I jumped out and fell into a ditch. Topioł didn't jump out. He went to Chełmno [author's error - to Treblinka]. He was there when the bodies were taken out. And he saw how things were loaded into the wagons. And he hid among these things and returned to Busko. And he told what happened to these people. And when he returned to Busko, the Poles noticed him and turned him in to the Gestapo. They took him to the Jewish cemetery and shot him there."
