- Story
- Józef was in the wagon to Treblinka [the account incorrectly states that it was a transport to Chełmno] together with his entire family - his parents, two brothers and two sisters. "No one told us where we were going. The station was full of Germans. My whole family was in that transport, and I was also loaded there. After loading, they closed the wagons. We had nothing to eat, they didn't give us anything to drink. We traveled all night . I, along with another friend, Menachem Topioł from the police, were standing in front of the wire window and looking out. [...] We decided to tear off the wires in the windows. None of the people in the wagon noticed it. They were all lying on the floors. Only me with this Topioł... And I was the first to get out of the carriage. The window was high and Topioł took me on his shoulders. And I got out. I jumped. The train was moving normally. I jumped out and fell into the ditch." Rozenberg went to the labor camp in Kielce. Then he was deported to labor camps in Pionki, Auschwitz, and Gleiwitz. After the war he went to Israel.
