- "Around [rabbi] Yitzchak Weintraub went the old ones [rabbis] who had escaped all of the slaughters to this point: Itsche Meir Shochet, Ben-Zion Zucker, Shlomo Shmuel Abarbanel, Kalman Friedman, Hence Goldfarb, the brothers Nahum and Herzl Halbershtam, Yitzchak Kagan, and others. This group of elders were dressed in white kitties and taleisim. It seemed as if the old leader, together with these elders, led the rest of the community to a huge celebration, for a sacred purpose."
