- On June 30, 1942, Karel was resettled with his family to Theresienstadt. He came to Treblinka on October 8, 1942 in one transport with Richard Glazar. He worked in sorting clothes and building a fence around the camp. His parents and younger brother died immediately after arriving in Treblinka. He fled during the uprising with Glazar. They passed through Poland but were arrested by a forester near Nowe Miasto on the Pilica river. They convinced him that they were employees of the Todt Organization, the Nazi construction brigades. They were sent to Germany as workers. From September 24, 1943, they worked in Mannheim for the Heinrich Lanz company, a manufacturer of agricultural machinery. After the war, he lived in the USA.
